ペットロスの方へ贈る詩（ポエム）

虹の橋

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.


The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

天国の少し手前に「虹の橋」と呼ばれる場所があります。

生前誰かに愛されてやまなかった動物達が、死後

虹の橋」へと旅立って行くのです。

そこには見渡す限りに草原が広がり、なだらかな丘が望め、みんな思う存分走り回ったり仲良く遊んだりしています。
豊富な食料と水、太陽の光があふれんばかりに注がれ、誰もが穏やかに平和にくらしています。

生前病気にかかっていたり老いていた者は健康と活力を取り戻し、傷を負っていた者は完治してふたたび強さを得ます。
その姿はまるで、あなたが夢に見た愛しく懐かしい日々のあの姿。あの頃のままです。

どの子もみな、幸せに満ち足りた生活を送っています。
ある一つの点をのぞけば・・・。
それは、皆にとっての飼い主、そう、
大切な存在だったあなたを残して旅立って来てしまったことを心寂しく感じているのです。

やがて「その時」を迎えると、あなたの愛しい子は突然立ち止まり、それまで一緒だった仲間達との遊びをやめ、遠くの一点だけを見つめます。
一心になって見つめる瞳は輝き、その体は喜びに打ち震えます。

あなたを見つけたのです。

仲間から離れ、ひとり駆け出します。輝くグリーンの草原を駆け抜け、あなたの元へとまっしぐらに。
熱い思いが気持ちをはやらせ、どんどんスピードを増していきます。
もっと早く、もっと早く・・・！

あなただけを見つけ出し、ついにふたりは出会うことができました。
再び固い絆で結ばれ、もう決して、二度と離れることはありません。
祝福のキスが惜しみなくあなたへと注がれます。
あなたは、愛しい子の頭をやさしくなで、心から信頼したまなざしを向けるその瞳を見つめ返します。
もうずいぶん長く会っていなかったけれど、片時も忘れたことがないその瞳を。

そして、一緒に虹の橋を越えるのです。

Loss of a pet -　ペットを亡くして

For those who have lost a pet.

I stood by your bed last night
I came to have a peep
I could see that you were crying
you found it hard to sleep

I whined to you softly
as you brushed away a tear
It's " me" I haven't left you
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here

I was close to you a breakfast
I watched you pour your tea
You were thinking of the many times
your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today
your arms were getting sore
I longed to take your parcels
I wish I could do more

I was with you at my grave today
you tend to it with such care
I want to reassure you
that I am not lying there

I walked with you towards the house
as you fumbled for the key
I gently put my paw on you
I smiled and said "its me"

You looked so very tired
you sank into a chair
I tried so hard to let you know
that I was standing there

Its possible for me
to be so near everyday
to say to you with certainty
I never went away

You sat there very quietly
then smiled like you knew
in the stillness of the evening
I was very close to you

The day is over
smile and you yawning
and say goodnight, god bless
I'll see you in the morning

And when the time is right for you
to cross the brief divide
I'll rush across to meet you
and we'll stand side by side

I have so many things to show you
there is so much for you to see
Be patient, live your journey out
then come home to be with me

ペットを亡くしたすべての方へ

昨夜ベッドのそばにいたんだ
君をひと目見たくて
君が泣いているのがわかったよ
なかなか眠れなかったんだね

君が涙をぬぐっていたから
僕はクンクン鼻を鳴らした
「ぼくだよ　ぼくはどこにも行ってないよ
ぼくは元気だよ　ぼくは大丈夫
ぼくはここだよ」

朝食の時君の近くにいたんだ
君はお茶を入れていた
何度も物思いにふけっていたけれど
ふと君の手が僕に触れた

今日買い物の時一緒にいたんだ
荷物が重くて君の腕が痛そうだった
僕が代わりに持ってあげたかった
もっと君にしてあげられたらいいのに

今日お墓参りの時一緒にいたんだ
君は丁寧にお墓の手入れをしていた
僕はそこにいないから安心してと
言ってあげたかった

家への帰り道一緒に歩いていたんだ
君は家の鍵を探していた
僕は君に手を差し伸べて
「ぼくだよ」と笑って言った

君はとても疲れていたんだね
椅子にもたれかかっていた
僕はすぐそこに立っていることを
一所懸命君に知らせようとした

毎日君のそばにいられるよ
僕は決して離れないと
君にはっきりと言える

君は物音一つたてずに座っていた
そして夜の静寂の中
僕がすぐ近くにいることが
分かったように君は笑った

一日が終わる
君は笑って、あくびをしながら
おやすみと言った
神のご加護がありますように
また明日会おうね

短い別れの時を終え
いつか君にもその時がやってきたら
僕は急いで迎えに行くよ
そして僕らはふたたび寄り添い合うでしょう

君に見せたいものがたくさんあるんだ
見るものがたくさんあるよ
もう少しだけ待っていて
君が人生の旅を終えた時
僕らはまた出会えるから
